RETAIL SALES Candidates for the sales position should be friendly, energetic, courteous and experienced in dealing with sales, the public and has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of plant species including trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and lawns, pest and disease control is required, landscape design experience is a plus. Additional training will be provided. Candidates must maintain strong knowledge of plant species, pricing, promotions, policies and services offered. Most salespersons work evenings and weekends, particularly during sales and other peak retail periods. Weekly hours can range between 30-60 hours a week. Small Equipment operation including tractors, leaf blowers, sprayers, forklift and Kabota carts is also required. Candidate must possess the ability to work in both inside and outside environmental conditions and bear the physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy merchandise. Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties. Job responsibilities include retail sales, help to maintain the sales yard by arranging plant material and signage, receive product and reconcile purchase orders, fertilizing, pruning, watering, spraying, and other garden center maintenance duties. Sales candidate will also be trained in point of sale equipment to perform cash sales, invoices, deliveries and installations. Candidate must learn how to handle and process warranty claims. Applicant may be required to carry a cordless phone during their shift. Applicant must be self-motivated and show initiative. SEASONAL CASHIER Dayton Nursery in Norton, Ohio is seeking a seasonal (full-time) cashier for the spring season. Weekly hours will range from 30 to 50, overtime is necessary. Candidates should have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to work weekends and some nights until 9:00 pm. Computer literacy, cashier and customer service experience is a plus. Candidates must work well with others, have good phone manner and be able to work face-to-face with customers. Knowledge of gardening, lawn care, fertilizers, pest control and plant species is a plus but not necessary.
