Plants in zone 5 will likely need special protection to overwinter successfully. When plants stop growing in the fall, clip off all of the pitchers that are turning brown and leave the smaller developing pitchers alone. It’s a good idea to cover the plants with a few inches of leaf mulch for the winter in colder zones. In the spring, before new growth begins, remove the mulch and divide or repot the plants if necessary.
