What’s wrong with my Wine & Rose Weigela – part of the plant is blooming and the other half is nothing but a stick? I have used Osmocote plant food in March (2-3 table spoons) and I added 2 more today. It gets constant sun and the soil is damp. Thanks !

I have had this problem also. I had spider mites and sprayed as soon as I figured it out. Now this spring I see a lot of brown needles but the plants appear to be still alive. What should I do now. I want to prune or just take a hedge clipper to the shrubs to expose the inner branches. Please advise…. Shelli

To prevent borer you should spray with Eight on May 1, May 15 and May 30. Be sure to spray the trunk and lower branches.
