To prepare a bed for annual flowers, spade grass and weed-free soil deeply to about 6″. If the soil has a lot of perennial weeds and grasses on it, it is advisable to eliminate these pests with Finale. Wait about one week for the Finale to eliminate weeds. Next, add about 1 inch of Canadian peat moss, 1/2 inch of cow manure, and 3 lbs. per 100 ft² of a granular fertilizer such as 5-10-10. Also, use Preen after planting as directed for preventive weed control. Work these ingredients into the top 6″ of soil.
