BOMBAY FLYING CLUB (BFC) is a multimedia collective and a group of experienced individual storytellers who all operate in the field of photojournalism and cross-media reporting. Being a collective makes us more versatile. We are able to produce stories for our clients as a team or individually. We all master professional skills such as audio recording, photography, video, editing and teaching.

BFC works with a select group of talented freelancers, journalists, photographers, graphic designers and AS3 Flash programmers.

I have been following Bombay Flying Club since their first projects, and I think what they have done for storytelling and journalism is amazing. They have proven that in the digital world you don’t need a huge organization and budget behind you to do important, groundbreaking stories. At Storyplanet we believe very strongly in the kind of setup that Bombay represents, so it is a great pleasure for us to be able to work closely with them in the future. Bjarke Myrthu, CEO, Storyplanet

WHO WE ARE:

POUL MADSEN is an independent photojournalist and multimedia producer. He recieved a BA in photojournalism from the Danish School of Journalism in 2006. Poul Madsen, the founder of BFC, has previously worked as a news and staff photographer for various Danish papers and for The Indian Express in Mumbai, India. Poul has been working with online journalism and narrative storytelling for the past 6 years. In early 2008 he programmed one of the world’s first full screen Flash documentaries and he decided to invest all his time in visual journalism for the web. He shoots and produces photo stories and videos too for international clients.

HENRIK KASTENSKOV is an independent photojournalist and multimedia producer. He recieved a BA in photojournalism from the Danish School of Journalism in 2006. Henrik Kastenskov originally started his career as a commercial photographer, but as he found himself increasingly influenced by the work of Sebastiao Salgado and photographers alike he decided to leave the studio and focus on photojournalism. He is an appointed examinator at the Danish School of Media and Journalism, a jury member of the German multimedia site “Spill the Beans” and a member of the board of Danish Union of Photojournalists.

BFC has a very unique approach to online journalism. The way they use the abilities of the 5D Mark II to shoot both stills and video incorporating these into stories is some of the best we have seen in the field of photojournalism. The level of material produced by Bombay Flying Club made the co-operation very interesting and exiciting for us. Jamil Olsen, Canon Denmark
